Our lawn bowling season continues at a fast pace with many events on the horizon. Mark your calendars now, so that you don’t miss out on all the fun!

The three Choffe sisters attended this competition, which is held in remembrance of their mother, Barbara Choffe. A decorated cake was the centrepiece of an inviting dessert table. The trophy winners were Hank Mueller and Helen Bonnyman, who as luck would have it seem to constantly being paired up through a random draw.
Our final Friday Social to be held on Friday September 25th will feature the use of our new BBQ with hamburgers and sausages being prepared. Corn on the cob and salads will also be available. Similar to our Sweet Summer Social this event will not include bowling and runs from 6 to 8 pm.
Our annual Simcoe Day tournament was held on Monday August 3rd with Councilor John Campbell joining us for lunch. The trophy winners were Barb Marks and Gail McNeil.
As you walk along the path from the parking lot you can see our new Club Banner welcoming visitors and inviting passersby to inquire about members at both our Website and clubhouse phone.
The annual Novice Triples and Breakfast will take place on Saturday September 12th starting at 9 am. Competing Novices should sign up on the list in the clubhouse. All members including associates are welcome to come to the breakfast!
Winners of the Golden Girls Series once again this year are Barbara Marks, Aileen Buchanon, and Elza Wright.
Clarke Slemon authors a periodic Blog (Web Log) in which he poses interesting questions and challenges the imagination of readers with oblique observations about the sport of lawn bowling.
This month Clarke provides some personal ideas about choosing which types of bowls to purchase based mainly upon the surface conditions where they will be used. New and experienced bowlers will be interested in this discussion.
The Green Bowler
Who pays the women who can be seen regularly weeding the flower gardens in front of our clubhouse?
If an errant bowl crosses the rink boundary and dislodges the jack on the neighbouring rink, the jack is replaced as close as possible to its original location as determined by the two skips.
This month Vince brings us a video of the 2007 Women’s World Cup Series. The competition here is between triples teams from Australia and New Zealand. Bowls competition at this level are telecasts nationally down under. This is your chance to watch some excellent bowling between women at the highest level.

Congratulation to David Anderson, who representing James Gardens won the Men’s District Singles Championship on Sunday August 30th. He will go on to the Provincial Finals in Woodstock, Ontario on the weekend of September 5th and 6th.
Once again this year the James Gardens Trophy Tournament was sponsored by Del Manor ~ Prince Edward. Delicious sandwiches and salads were included even for non-competitors. The trophy winners on this warm sunny Saturday were Hank Mueller and Helen Bonnyman.
New Date for
The date of the club Fall Annual General Meeting is now Thursday October 8th at the Canadiana Restaurant! An official “Notice of Meeting” will be sent out to club members at the end of September. At the meeting a new slate of officers for the Board of Directors will be elected and a few amendments to the By-laws will be considered.
On Friday September 18th the mixed pairs Dearborn Trophy Tournament sponsored by Motts will be held starting at 9:45. Teams should sign the list on the clubhouse bulletin board.
